Exploring my DVD collection and my addiction to owning complete sets. Sometimes they don't make it easy...
Was the first 6 episodes one series or two? Where do the specials go? Lets look:
The Thick of It
In Australia, it was decided that the first two series of the show were "Series 1" not "Series 1" and "Series 2," but then reverted to the UK numbering for "Series 3" meaning there is no "Series 2." The numbering where you are may vary (comment in the notes if you have info), but it may be something to watch out for.
- Series 1 (2005) - 3 episodes (In Australia released as part of the Series 1 set)
- Series 2 (2005) - 3 episodes (In Australia released as part of the Series 1 set)
- "Rise of the Nutters" (2007) - Special (In Australia released as part of The Specials set)
- "Spinners and Losers" (2007) - Special (In Australia released as part of The Specials set)
- "Opposition Extra" (2007) - Extra (In Australia released as part of The Specials set)
- Series 3 (2009) - 8 episodes (In Australia released as Series 3)
- Series 4 (2012) - 7 episodes, although episode 6 is an hour long (In Australia released as Series 3)
Spin-offs
- In The Loop (2009) - Film. Malcolm Tucker goes to America. Much of The Thick of It cast play different characters and the film may not be part of the series.
- Veep - US series in the same style, by the same people.
